Proper preparation is the first step to spectacular results

Step 1
Ensure you have the right color by ordering a color chart at getsoto.com/colorchart.

Step 2
Remove artwork, nails, shelves, wall plates, light switch covers and anything else on the surface.

Step 3
Cover floors and furniture with Plastic Drop Cloths or Canvas Drop Cloths to protect from drips and paint splatter.

Step 4
Scrape off any flaking or peeling paint with a Putty Knife or scraper.

Step 5
Sand rough areas or glossy surfaces with 120-grit sand paper and use a Tack Cloth, a Disposable Cotton Towel or a vacuum to remove dust.

Step 6
Wipe surface with the wet enclosed Disposable Cotton Towel to remove dirt, dust, oil and loose paint.

* Always wear a dust mask when sanding. If you scrape, sand or remove old paint (pre-1978 homes), you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. Contact the National Lead Information Hot Line at 1-800-424-LEAD, or log on to www.epa.gov/lead for more info. Keep out of reach of children. Includes acrylic resin. Not for internal consumption. If ingested, do not induce vomiting. Contact medical support.

Step 7
Fill nail holes or blemishes with spackle and sand smooth. Wipe away dust once dry, using a Tack Cloth or a Disposable Cotton Towel.

Step 8
Tape edges with Painter's Tape for sharp edges.

Step 9
Shake paint for at least 15 seconds before opening.

Step 10
Remove paint clips by wedging the edge of paint opener or flat screwdriver under clip.

Step 11
Open lid using enclosed paint opener.

Step 12
Stir paint thoroughly using enclosed stir stick (more Paint Stir Sticks available here).

NOW IT'S TIME TO PAINT!

Step 1
Pour paint into the lower level of the Paint Tray (use a Paint Tray Liner for easy cleanup) or our Metal Bucket + Grid.

Step 2
First paint the edges, trim, windows and doors with a 2-inch Angled Paint Brush.

Step 3
Roll Roller (with Roller Cover) back and forth in paint to evenly coat all sides. Use tray grid or Paint Bucket Grid to remove excess.

Step 4
Begin painting long, overlapping strokes. Pick up more paint when strokes become faint.

TIP
Use a 4-Foot Roller Extender to help you reach the hard-to-reach sections

Step 5
Allow paint to dry 2-4 hours before applying second coat. Use fan to speed up dry time.

TIP
Between coats, store tools in ziplock bag and place plastic wrap over paint tray.

Step 6
Apply second coat in similar pattern as first, ensuring a uniform finish is achieved.

Step 7
Let paint dry overnight before re-attaching items to your surface.

Step 8
Once paint is dry, remove tape immediately for clean lines and sharp edges.

Step 9
Clean tools immediately with our Shop Cleaner + Degreaser or soap and water. Ensure lid is tightly secured. Store in house.

Step 10
Remove Roller Cover from Roller Frame and allow it and the other tools to air dry before storing.

Thoughtfulness in everything you do.
